Our Board of Directors
K9 c.a.r.e.s. is currently seeking to expand our Board of Directors. If you are passionate about making a difference in your community and serving in a leadership position as a Board Member, please download and complete the Personal Summary for Prospective Board Members. Carolyn Corbett:
Executive Director, President, Board Member
Carolyn is the founder and Executive Director of K9 c.a.r.e.s. and has been a volunteer Victim Advocate for the City of Westminster, Colorado since 1998. She provides Animal Assisted Therapy and Animal Assisted Aactivity services with her three Golden retrievers; Caitlyn (lovingly known as "Caitee"), Tallulah and Liberty. Carolyn is a licensed Delta Society® Pet Partner evaluator and instructor qualified to teach the handler/canine handler workshops.
Jennifer Mendoza:
Treasurer, Board Member
Jennifer is the Juvenile Courts Program Manager for the 17th Judicial District, Adams County Courts. She currently serves on the Adams County Youth Initiative Steering Committee and is passionate around helping children to live better lives. Jennifer is a K9 c.a.r.e.s. handler/canine team with her Yellow Labrador Retriever, Biloxi.
Philip Corbett:
Secretary, Vice President, Board Member
Philip supports the business operations and technology needs for K9 c.a.r.e.s. on a volunteer basis. He was instrumental in establishing the Corporate Citizenship Council for the Denver office of a leading multi-national consulting firm; the council assisted nonprofit organizations with pro bono consulting services to help improve their operations and delivery of services.
Barbara Lamanna:
Chairperson of the Board
Barb is the Victim Services Coordinator for the City of Westminster Police Department and has over 15 years experience in the field of victim services and police work. She participates on several area domestic violence task forces and crisis response teams and has presented at several state wide conferences on issues surrounding trauma and domestic violence.
Susan Fecko:
Board Member
Susan is a marketing professional with over 19 years of experience in brand and business development, strategic planning, public relations, promotions and event planning. Susan currently works in the healthcare industry as the Marketing and Business Development Director for a short term physical rehabilitation facility called Azura Living. She is a K9 c.a.r.e.s. handler/canine team with her two dogs, Emma a black lab mix and Bos'n a yellow lab.
